I hope you all remember my old post featuring Shreya – the cute little baby , daughter of my colleague Namrata and my friend Jithesh.

cute Indian baby pictures utah baby photographer

That was when Shreya was 3 weeks old and now she is turning one this month. Namrata’s mom was here and wanted some family pictures through my lens. We decided to capture some Shreya moments at the wheelers farm and was a pleasant evening.
Shreya didn’t bother much before the camera and I was lucky to capture some pictures of this little Gujarati princess .

Riya Naroor indian baby pictures

This is me holding my cute little niece Riya Naroor. I visited my brother’s family in AZ when she was 28 days old. In Kerala tradition (the state where I am from in India ), we celebrate the 28th day after a baby is born. I was fortunate enough that they were in AZ. The trip didn’t fetch me great pictures, as the lighting was not that great and I didn’t want to bother the baby with the flash. After that day I was waiting for my second chance to photograph my niece and publish her pictures in my blog. So here I am, after 8 months, presenting pictures of cute Riya Naroor. I took these pictures in my apartment when they were here recently for a week’s stay in Utah .Enjoy the pictures and do add your comments .

bharatanatyam dancer parvati mudras pictures

by on Sep.29, 2010, under Portraits

I am glad that I am able to find Kerala art forms being performed in the United States. My wife insisted that we should visit the Hare Krishna temple (in Spanish Fork Utah) to participate in Janmastami celebrations and watch the dance performance by Divya Narayanan and her students . The dance group performed Bharatnatyam. A little bit about the dance form Bharata Natyam -
Bharata Natyam is one of the oldest dance forms of India. It was nurtured in the temples and courts of southern India since ancient times. Later it was codified and documented as a performing art in the 19th century by four brothers known as the Tanjore Quartet whose musical compositions for dance form the bulk of the Bharata Natyam repertoire even today. The art was handed down as a living tradition from generation to generation under the Devadasi system under which women were dedicated to temples to serve the deity as dancers and musicians forming part of the elaborate rituals. These highly talented artists and the male gurus (nattuvanars) were the sole repository of the art until the early 20th century when a renewal of interest in India’s cultural heritage prompted the educated elite to discover its beauty.

Here are some of the pictures I took of the dancer Parvati Radhakrishnan who did a great performance that night .
